Chemical Monitoring of Coastal Environments Summer School
Ifremer and the Agence Française de Développement are pleased to announce the 1st Summer School on the Chemical Monitoring of Coastal Environments from 10th to 21st October 2022. The goal of the CS22 Summer School is to initiate and contribute to a worldwide network of experts on chemical contaminants monitoring.
CS22 - SUMMER SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT

The 2-week Summer School will be composed of a 1-day field trip followed by a series of lectures and hands on laboratory experience.
The aim of the school is to provide attendees with an overview of scientific knowledge and practical guidelines to sample, analyze and interpret marine chemical data in the frame of chemical monitoring actions.
The Summer School is intented for PhD students, Post-doctoral fellows and Master level permanent staff and will be opened to 10 participants from coastal countries that are eligible to receive official development assistance (ODA).
PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME
- 1-day field trip to Le Croisic (90km of Nantes, West coast): sampling of sediments, molluscs and seawater
- >35h hands-on in Ifremer laboratories: sample preparation, sample analysis, data treatment (organic and metallic contaminants, nutrients, micro-algae taxonomy)
- 15h lectures: Biogeochemistry, Ecotoxicology, Eutrophication, Harmful Algae, Zone Case Study, Analytical Procedures, Observation Network Management, Environmental Quality Assessment, Chemical Risk Assessment, Environmental Social Psychology
COSTS
FREE registration, food and accomodation during the Summer School! Support for travel cost (up to 1000€/ trainee) available.

Registration will be open from 1st February 2022.
The closing date for applications is 1st May 2022, 23h59 CEST.
The decisions will be announced no later than on 15th June 2022.
